Anyone experiencing the same? I had my own personal audiobooks in iTunes and these are now gone
after upgrading. They do not appear in the Books app under audiobooks.

I can't even find them on my Mac anymore - any ideas?

I'm not sure why they aren't showing up in Books, but they've probably been migrated to ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks

For people with non-iTMS audiobooks, it's a bit of a travesty, we have no choice regarding where they're located, and it still doesn't look like it's possible to change the metadata on them within Books ( that I know ).

Mine stayed in the Music app, but got a warning or error after starting Books, so when starts scanning your iTunes (should it not be Music, Apple ?) library that it could not move those files. Think its because they are on an external drive.

I had the same problem last night on my MacBook Pro 2016. My iTunes library is on an external drive with a large audiobook selection. There is not enough room on the internal drive to bring it over. This is only a problem for Books where you cannot redirect the location of your library location. Everything else in iTunes you are able to redirect to your external drive. Looking at finding another app that can play m4b files, the search is on. I had to switch to my virtual windows program and moved my iTunes library to Windows. Won’t be updating any other Apple pc’s to Catalina until this is fixed.

I had the same problem and restored to Mojave this morning using Time Machine. It's ridiculous! Why can't they be organized like music files!?!?!?

Uh-oh. Please post if/ when you find a solution. Like you, I also have a huge audiobook collection on an external drive, so i'm not going to update for now.

I checked the mentioned folder above already and also performed searches - my audiobooks are simply gone. I will try to go through iTunes but have a feeling something went really wrong. I cant look for them though because shortly after I changed the boot settings from Low to Full (s screenshot) my failry new MacBook Air 2018 ‚blew up‘ - Apple removed the battery and it wouldn’t turn on again. Was never a problem before updating to Catalina

The fact you cannot edit your audiobooks is ridiculous. What’s the workaround? I dont consider getting Windows and using iTunes on it a viable solutions as some mentioned above.
