Hi everyone! I'm an indie Mac developer who just finished my first app: AudioWrangler.
AudioWrangler ensures you're always in control of what sound input/output device is selected. By default, macOS selects the last device connected as the active device. However, for more complex setups, this means when waking up from sleep it's hard to predict what macOS will select. (Often, macOS selects my monitor's speakers, which are terrible.) Usually, I only discover this when I get on a Zoom call and can't hear/speak to other participants.
AudioWrangler lets you rank your input and output devices according to preferences, and selects the first one that is currently connected:
By putting the MBP Speakers above the CalDigit and NX-EDG27, it ensures we never use the TB3 or monitor as sound output. AudioWrangler runs in the background, accessible via a menubar icon, and does its thing quietly.
Check it out on the App Store, and let me know what you think. Thanks for reading!
