CANADA? eh?
there is a poser outside my rogers here in London,Ontario, Canada..and it says...coming soon to Canada...iPhone:apple: then there is a picture...its so exicting...ill post pictures here like in 2-3hours
 
any pictures yet?

forgive my skepticism, but it is somewhat difficult to believe that posters would be up in the absence of any other announcements...

Are you sure its Aug 29???? I haven't heard anything from Rogers....

Plus, I DISLIKE Rogers VERY VERY MUCH, for those in Toronto, they would know, not only they renamed the Skydome the Rogers Centre.... not sure if you know, but CityTV/CHUM has been bought by them....and plans is that the infamous Speakers Corner, that building on Queen Street ?!?! That will be renamed and rebranded as some Rogers thing as well.
 
Well I just called Rogers here in Halifax, Nova Scotia and they say they haven't heard anything about the iPhone. Well they know what it is but haven't heard anything relating to it being released in Canada and have no sweet clue about the August 29 thing. They might just be uninformed, or lying, or the OP is pulling our chains (most likely).
 
Well, the Canadian Apple Store is down so maybe they'll finally announce something. Probably not...But I'm going down to an Apple Store tomorrow to play with the phones!
 
So I'm guessing this is ********. Judging by his recent posts, the guy who posted this thread doesn't sound too credible.
 
I think this claim is BS. However, the Apple Canada store is down, with an iPhone and a message, so there could be some news for iPhone in Canada, but we'll have to wait and see.

but no sign from the service provider, so unlikely to be ready in the near future. And if they were announcing this, why through the store and not the front page?

It's probably because the Apple Canada store routes to the US store and then to the Canadian store. Don't get your hopes up. The government and our cell phone companies will ensure it is years before we get our hands on these things. Big brother doesn't trust us.
 
The iPhone on that Apple Store Canada page says AT&T. I don't think we're getting an announcement today. Sorry guys :(
