Man, they announce Jaguar, get everyone hyped about it (well, thats what Im mostly hyped about) and dont ship it until the 24th of august. Thats OVER a month away.

Man. That sucks. Thats worse than the price tag in my opinion. Id pay the 129 this second if I could download it today.

You can download it for free now...;)

There are still a couple of builds that need to make the rounds with developers first (current is 6C98). In order to make last minute fixes it will take a couple of weeks before they get a GM and have time to press all the copies they'll need.

Patience...

Chill your jets there greenster... What makes you think that you will be able to download the 10.2 install cd??? Who knows what will be included with the retail box as well... There could be a new developers cd, as well as other goodies that help to soften the blow... Although, if they included a bj with Jaguar, people would be snatching it off the shelves too damned fast (i.e. I would have to wait too long to get mine ;) ). :D

its not right

Hi all,

I am not so sure about my love to apple anymore. Apple is pissing me off. I remember back the days when the true fans where the core concern about apple. Now, with growing margins of a market share percentage the loyalty of apple is sinking in my point of view dramatically. But I could be wrong.

The last macworld and this one now showed me personally that the mainstream consumer, like my parents or those people in the current ads and tv spots are more important then the professionals, that made apple. I think the time magazine cover and the growing success get into Steve's head.

I don't care about a new G5. What i care is the little gimmicks for me as a true fan and pro user. I liked to here about things that are my daily use. G4, Cinema displays and so on.

F+#*, Steve could have at least the decency to said just a little bit about the pro line and that new update will come soon. Ok, all the new stuff they showed was kind of cool but don't change my life dramatically.

--

And then I hate to see a web site with products you cannot even get, like 10.2
Come on! Aren't we all Mac addicts™ Next macworld I explain my parents how to use QuickTime and they probably have more fun watching the live stream!!!!

so long, take care.
Seybold come soon.

Free, do you really mean free? Or do I have to have some software to trade. Because that's the rules of Carracho servers all over is having software to trade is a must. I for one am a loner and have no software to trade with my DSL being 768 down, 128 up.

I think you'll see that the success of the apple platform has been the consumer market, at least since 98 and the first iMacs. Those things changed the industry, and apple sold a crapload of them, to non pros.

Apple still loves you, evident in the Cinema displays to start with, definitely not a consumer product. They just don't have to woo you, they have to woo first time users, who are going to be consumer level in all likelyhood

Oh sure i agree with what you say. Still it don't changes the fact that the last 2 macworlds were pure mainstream. Don't get me wrong, i understand that Apple just makes their thing and tries to get better and bigger. Right on, but it sucks to see things going away. Do you understand what i want to say?

Cheers

I know I'd like nothing more than to have 10.2 in my hands and on my TiBook right now, but I'm willing to wait :)p) for Apple to iron everything out.

Who wants to see it ship with problems that need 5 MB patches every 2 weeks like an M$ product :( iTunes 2.0.4 was out for months, and it didn't support the high resolutions on the new rev TiBooks! :( SHEESH!!

A little spit, polish & patience will go a long way for everybody IMHO

I agree. I definitely see a 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 coming out around October/November. Especially since 10.2 was originally slated for early Fall, and is now ready by August.

Where have you been?

Apple has purchased how many Pro companies in the last year, 7?

Apple has come out with Xserve a much requested Rackmount Server which performs great.

Loyalty to Apple is not sinking. You're just being inundated with fanboys who complaine because they're not smart enough to debate with their PC buddies and win.

The Consumer Market keeps Apple in the game so that they can develop neat stuff for you. It's a symbiotic relationship. You can't have one without the other unless you enjoy paying 50k for you Hardware of Software.

10.2 will help pros as much as consumers. 10.2 has so many tweaks and is so much more efficient all will benefit. I don't see where the complaints are. Besides Macworld is a Consumer Show.

Just remember......Microsoft can focus on the software without
having to worry too much about the hardware that runs it too. That gives them a bit of an advantage. I'd say Apple seems to be doing a dam good job holding up both ends......

If word for Windows actually had those features, I have to admit, I would be converted... esp. for the increase salary feature.
