Hi all,

I know there's plenty of posts like this already, but thought i'd post my good news!

Went to Myer (Melbourne) today and picked up an MBA (base spec). I was waiting for the new MBP's but decided that the extra power they offer wasn't necessary for the stuff I do. I mainly use my laptop to surf the web, use iTunes, check mail and chat on Messenger. For that purpose, the MBA works really well (and looks amazing to boot!) I've also got a MacMini which I use as a media centre. If I need to burn DVDs, I can use that.

So first impressions of the MBA? Love it! It is so light and stylish and the screen look beautiful. The speed is fine and the build quality is just amazing.

I look forward to travelling with this baby!

Nice one, hope you enjoy it. Is this your first Mac?

Not sure why, but Myer always seems to get Apple stock before everyone else. When the Touch was released, they had stacks of them available, whereas the "usual" retailers had none! Buying power, I guess. I still don't know of any other Aussie retailer that has MBA stock.

I'm loving this machine more every day! Even my partner wants one!

Oh, Abstract, sure we've got 'em! In fact a guy at work ordered here as they were released and received it some time ago!

Yawn...

So someone has received their MBA....

Come on guys, this is OLD news. I received my MBA more than two weeks ago (I reckon it was one of the first 10 in Australia).... the next big hype now is waiting for the AirMail laptop sleeve (please tell me you know what that is) to arrive from the US.

But good on ya for gettin an MBA.

Btw: The less people who purchase the MBA, the better. It's called "market saturation", and people can really overdo it if they all purchase and use the same product. So here's hoping that most people out there will stick with their chunky, cheapo Vista-based laptops. And I don't wanna see anyone else in my law classes at uni with an MBA, otherwise I won't feel like the coolest man alive. ;)

So you're doing a law degree.

Come on, this is OLD news! I finished my law degree almost 8 years ago!

Don't rain on my parade, sista :p

Ok, you win. But it's only "old news" SUBJECTIVELY. Why? Becuase I can't control being born after you, so it would be impossible for me to compete with your having completed a law degree 8 years ago. Come on, I was still playing with my Ninja Turtles back then. However, the OBJECTIVE (and therefore TRUE) old news is that you've only "just" purchased a MacBook Air. Why? Because we now exist in the same period of time and have had the equal temporal opportunity to purchase said MBA.

So please don't talk to me about old news. It's like saying that you've won a track-race when only YOU get to start one metre from the finish line. Rather, the old news here is you and I starting the race on par, and me opening a can of whoop-ass on you to finish a resounding, godly first. Savvy?

And if you are a lawyer, why aren't you buying the best of the best, and not some crummy (let's face it, the MBA is crummy) student-income-targeted made-in-China gimmick? Honestly, once I'm a lawyer I'll be buying Alienware all the way. My MBA is just to fill in time until then. Then I'll chuck it out with the regular waste disposal. Good times.

I love the FIRE in the brand new uni students! So EXCITING when important words are done CAPITAL to make your point.

With all this talk of subjective and objective and truth, I can tell you're first year. Good luck with your degree, I suspect once you reach the real world, which uni is NOT (see how I used capitals there?), you'll recognise a bit of humor for what it is.

Oh and a tip - you're (clearly) new to the world of Mac (despite your I Believe signature) and very new to MacRumors - you should proof read your comments before posting. MBA as a crummy, student-income-targeted ... gimmick? I don't think any Apple laptop, especially the MBA, fits that bill. Equally, I highly doubt that non-gamers would think that the Alienware all the way is the way to go. You'd be laughed out of chambers if you turned up with one of those things.

So i'll finish this thread now - but thanks for listening :)

Damo

p.s. I figure you're the type who likes to have the last word, so it's ALL yours :)
