i'm noticing some problems with the Siri on my mum's 4S. a bunch of things like maps, traffic etc won't work because i'm in australia, and siri tells me "i can only look for businesses, maps and traffic in the united states" so i'm wondering if there's ANYTHING i can do to get that working for australia?

also, siri just seems really.... stupid! i asked for the weather, "show me the weather for this week", and siri understood my voice perfectly, but says "sorry, i couldn't do it". i've tried a bunch of different wordings and she still refuses. i've also seen a bunch of people asking siri for jokes etc, but whenever i try something simple like that, she always says "i don't know any" or she forgets the punchline.

perhaps i've overestimated siri's abilities. i assumed that if i asked for something like an album track list, she could bring that up by googling it and just spewing the answer. but when i asked her as clearly as i could, she had no clue. what CAN siri do?

Right now, Siri is fully functional in the USA. In other countries, Siri is limited. This is why Siri is unable to find places near you. You can't do anything right now to get it working where you are. When iOS 6 is released, Siri will work worldwide (Including Australia) and give you answers to the questions you mentioned above. However, Siri should be able to give you weather information where ever you are so I dont know why that isn't working for you.
