I’m shoring up my iPone security (iPhone 7Plus 2016). I downloaded an app called Authenticator. I get get how it works but have no idea how to get started. It asks for a QR code, but I haven’t a clue where to find it. Is anyone familiar with this app? Thanks.

https://myaccount.google.com/security

Go here and sign in... then click two step verification toward the bottom. Then scroll down where it says Authenticator app and click setup. Then pick iPhone and you will get this code screen (I blurred mine).

Now start the app on your iPhone and click the plus to add an account. Then pick Google at the bottom and scan the code from your screen. Now click next on the web site and enter the six digit code shown in the app. That should do it.
