I have had consistent Wi-Fi signal strength fluctuations from day one of the iPad release.

After reading the Apple knowledge base article I turned off the auto-brightness setting on my iPad. This miraculously has taken care of my problem and the iPad connects at 10,000 kbps consistently, just as rock solid as my laptop speed tests.

Thanks for reminding me of this. I had read this a couple of weeks ago, but had forgotten. I just got a 32W in addition to the 16W I had, and the 32 signal meter jumps around. I haven't lost connection, but the jumping makes me nervous. (note I have never had any wifi issues with the 16W)

I'll let you know if this work around helps......

I'd been getting less then impressive wifi speeds. After some googling I came across the suggestion of turning off auto-brightness.. So I tried it here at work. Using the free Speedtest X app, with auto-brightness on, I got 2.51Mbps down, which has been about the best I've ever gotten. I turned auto-brightness off - and got 10.58Mbps down. Thats 4x the speed! Thats more like I expected. Apple have a hardware or software bug somewhere here. I'm happy to leave auto-brightness off though - I'm happy. I'm looking forward to trying it at home now.
