auto brightness are you using it

I don't use it, I've noticed that the battery life on the iPad lasts long enough for my liking, so I prefer a bright screen.
I thought mine was broken too.... Maybe we are just used to how sensitive the auto brightness on the iPhone is... Mine changes sometimes with minute light changes... Not annoyingly so... But anyway... I have yet to see my iPad experience much change, even when going from a well lit room to a dark room or vice versa.... Any one else notice this?
If it's too dim, just set it so that it is still bright enough when the auto brightness dims it. The feature is still then still useful because it will brighten the screen when the room is bright, etc.
Wifi Phantom Menace?
I ran across a posting somewhere that suggested having screen on minimum brightness PLUS auto-brightness off was responsible for my wifi problems.
I would find that recently my iPad started an odd behavior... the iPad dropped my wifi connection when it went to sleep. uUnlike other such complaints, it did not forget the WEP key. It just forgot this was a known network, making me go to preferences an select the network. It did not ask to join automatically even though that was the selected option... Since I have changed brightness level above minimum, I have not lost my wifi connect when the iPad goes to sleep...

I'm using it. I noticed that it is quite slow to adjust. If you put your hand over the sensor, it takes a good ten seconds before the display dims.
After pondering it for a while, I think that's a good thing. You don't want the display jumping from bright to dim just because the sensor is temporarily in a shadow.
Because it's so slow, that might be why you don't think it's working.

This makes perfect sense to me and if it is the way it works, this is far better than and immediate reaction. I wish my car's built-in display screen worked like that - most annoying when driving along tree-lined roads!
Oh apple mentions this, I thought it was weird that's Apples response to Wifi problems mentioning not to have dim setting all the way down.
As far as auto-dim, I don't use it. I think it uses more battery juice and has minimal effect for me. I use SBSettigs in jailbreak, all the common settings are on a fast pop-up window, not need to dive into menus for most used settings.
