Auto-brightness toggle not showing up

Out of curiosity, are you seeing Auto Brightness appear in "Display in Brightness" settings, as it was prior to 11? Maybe the setting change didn't occur for whatever reason.

The toggle is gone in the ip7 & ipp 9.7, the latter merged into the true tone function apparently. Sad

He posted his screenshot of the accessibility settings for display accommodations, and it’s missing from there too, which has is not normal.
I would try a hard reset on your phone but first clear all apps from your app switcher. I had issues through the betas with some setting missing and that fixes it for me.
This happened to someone last year as well. It was determined to be a hardware issue and the phone had to be replaced.

Oh boy. Ok. Thanks everyone! My phone has been through a lot so I’m guessing this is just the latest manifestation of that. Sigh. Onwards and upwards.

Why does it even matter, it rarely worked properly anyways. Last time it worked properly in my experience was iOS 6 and maybe 7.
Just FYI, updated to 11.0.1 and still exactly the same.

Ha! Good point. However, even though it never worked very well for me, it still worked. I’m finding that walking into the sunshine and not being able to tell if the phone is even on, much less read anything on it, is beyond frustrating. And I don’t much care for the new design of the brightness toggle in the Contol Center. Not as easy to swipe in a hurry. And especially annoying when I have to do it all day long! Anyway...
It’s always worked fine for me. Not sure why you’d assume everyone’s has issues just b/c yours does.
I don’t know it barely works for me on 11, even on a fresh install. It probably works 25% of the time. In a dark room, it’ll blast in my face. In a lit room, it’ll be dim. My Mac is excellent with auto brightness, so I don’t understand why my iOS devices won’t do it right. I’ve had it misbehave on iPhone 4, 4S, 5S, 6S; iPad Mini, 2, and Air 2. This is on versions 7-11.
If it works for you cool, I’m just saying it doesn’t work much on my devices and I don’t really know why.
Ha! That’s cute, yeah, still no excuse for this to be an issue on a fresh install of iOS. By the way, I’ve tried that before and it does nothing to help at all except waste time.
I had to google how to turn auto brightness off for iOS 11. Apple moved it to an unrelated part of the settings just to be awkward it seems. I’m half expecting WiFi settings to be moved into wallpapers for the next update.

Well, again, works across a number of different iOS devices with different iOS versions I've dealt with over the years, and similarly seems to have worked for various other people based on different discussions that have happened around that topic over the years. Not quite sure what might be behind the issues you've been having.

Seems like Apple is now seeing auto-brightness as more of a standard almost necessity than just a regular option, which might be why the control was moved into accessibility settings so that it would be there for those that might really need it for some accessibility related type of reason (but not something Apple would rather see users just change while they are just browsing settings for fun essentially).
