Despite having the setting to delete messages in my bin after 7 days, it seems to have stopped working. I’ve tried everything from switching it on and off to changing the frequency of the auto-delete. I’m applying the same settings on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac, but the old messages still aren’t being deleted automatically.

Any idea how to fix this?

I’ve not changed my mail provider and this has worked fine for years.

I have this issue too.

I think there's quite a lot of bugs with the Mail app currently as it's also ignoring the Fetch settings for me.

I only use iCloud for Mail and have 2 accounts. I also have used that 7-day setting for years, but it seems since iOS 18 it defaults to a 30-day period, so I go in regularly and manually delete all. It’s been this way since the release of iOS 18 on both my phone and iPad.

I’ve deleted and recreated my account. Set to delete after a day. Still doesn’t work.

So my iPhone, iPad and Sequoia don’t auto delete email from trash as they should.
