Universal Auto Memo Recorder - Native CarPlay Voice Memo Recording

Hi all –
Just wanted to share something I built recently for a problem I had, incase it helps anyone else, I wanted to solve a gap in the CarPlay ecosystem, specifically an easy way to record voice memos on the move.

Despite all the Siri smarts and iOS features, there did not seem to be a simple/clean way to record voice memos natively in CarPlay.

So I made Auto Memo Recorder – an iOS app that works natively inside CarPlay and lets you capture voice memos completely hands-free or with minimal taps:

• Works directly within the CarPlay interface for recording and playback, uses vehicle microphone.
• Say “Start Recording” or tap the on-screen button to begin
• Auto-detects long silences and prompts to end recording safely
• 'Append' mode to quickly/easily add to an existing memo and avoid many separate files
• Siri-compatible, you can say (“Hey Siri, open Auto Memo Recorder”) then say 'Start Recording' to kick off a new recording hands free.
• Optional on-device transcription and file sharing
• Syncs with Apple Watch – start a memo walking along on the watch and finish it in the car via CarPlay
• CloudKit-based sync (but local-first if preferred), sync with iPad/iPhone/Apple Watch or share files directly within the mobile application.

It’s ideal for people who wish to note a thought while driving, journal verbally, work in coaching or creative fields, or just need to remember ideas, shopping lists etc safely on the go.

I have kept the app as a one-off purchase, no subscriptions and tried to keep the price reasonable.

I prefer to avoid subscriptions where possible.

As I say, hoping it helps anyone who needs/would like this functionality in CarPlay. I will be developing it more over time, existing users will receive updates without further purchases.

I just made the purchase. It looks like a practical and powerful app that may come in handy for me. Will it be possible in any upcoming version to insert recordings directly into the Journal App as a voiced Journal entry and or convert to text Journal entry?

Superb, hope it helps - I have some updates in the works at the moment particularly in the Transcription side of the app. I find I use it most days when driving around and needing to make notes.
