Hello,

I've just moved from a PC to a Mac. I'm looking for an alternative to a Windows program called The Renamer.

I have seen information on this forum about a few other programs that are Mac compatible, that would do the same thing, however I want to go one step further.

The Renamer would rename my TV shows and then move them from my local drive to my shared NAS automatically.

I'm looking for a way to do this on my Mac.

For example, I want to rename Dexter to the proper format, and then automatically send that file to the Dexter folder in the proper season folder on my NAS drive...

Is there any way to do this?

Thanks.

Not sure about the moving thing, although I bet someone with more knowledge with the Automater could help you out, you can use a free program called NameChanger to change the file names of your videos (it gives you the option to sequentially number your files and add a name before the sequencing number). Others might suggest Name Mangler, available on the Mac App Store, but it's a $10 app that doesn't do more than NameChanger.

What app or device are you going to use to watch your movies? What file format are they currently in?

A major difference in the way Mac users and PC users differ is that Mac users have been relying on file metadata much more than PC users, on average.

Is your nas only connecting to Macs? Are you using server software on your nas?

The file movement part sounds like a good job for Hazel. I've been using Hazel in conjunction with mac.jedi's Batch Rip process and it's great for moving files all over the place based on preset rules.
