Hi guys,
This is probably more relevant for UK peeps as US electrical current is different.

I've ordered one of the new iMacs which should be with me in a few weeks and am redoing my computer area to make it all nice looking and minimalist.
Anyway, I was thinking of switching out my current 10way adapter my PC uses for something smaller, and debating those fancy power adapters you can get where you plug a PC in a specific plug and the rest of the plugs turn on and off when the adapter senses the computer turning on and off. I'd like this for things like my printer and a stupid external drive that can't sense if a computer is on or not.
Does anyone know if these will work with the iMac, and more specifically, will they work with the iMac when it goes to sleep (as the iMac does still draw a little power in sleep mode, I know the one I've linked too won't turn off other devices when the iMac is alseep, so need a suggestion of one that will if they exist)
Thanks guys.

As far as compatibility regarding powering down, I think it's just monitoring 'voltage usage' regardless of computer plugged in.

I don't trust these devices (that's just me, no amount of flaming will change my mind) so as for as suggesting one that DOES turn off when computer goes to sleep, I can't offer any suggestions.

Perhaps more googling?

I'm in the US, and I just bought an APS UPS (battery backup) that has a similar feature, but I'm using it on my Macbook Pro (using the backed-up plugs for my cinema display, usb hub, and external hard-drives.) It is really good about knowing when my MBP is on, and when it is sleeping/charging or not even connected, and switches off the extra outlets. It actually has 3 settings for wattage detection, so it can be adjusted if the computer sleep takes too much power for it to shut off.
I don't think they make a UK version of it though!:(

The ability to switch what wattage it turns the other plugs off sounds ideal. Otherwise its just a gamble wether it'll pickup the iMac in sleep mode, as I do want that to count as an "off" state for the other plugs. Not personally looking for UPS as have never had a powercut so not looking to spend the extra money that would entail, sounds like you've got a great device though!
