I'm having an interesting issue where Entourage has a mind of its own and opens whenever it feels like it. I use Entourage at work for the Exchange servers and email, but at home I close it because I use Mail.

In the middle of doing nothing in particular, Entourage will open itself automatically....and I can seem to pin a reason to it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Mine's acted fine from the time I've installed over a year ago. Is Entourage your default mail client? Wonder if something (virus/bug) is trying to send an email automatically?!

It's hard to claim a 'default' really. I use Entourage and Mail about the same amount of time over a given week because my corporate account is synced through Entourage but all of my personal and school accounts are synced through Mail.

I guess that could be a reason....how would I go about trying to find if I have something

In Mail, you can select whether it is the default mail client under Preferences.

I downloaded a trial version of Norton Antivirus once. It's a 90-day trial, you can scan for viruses that way. Some people say it's good to have a virus protection program on your Mac to help protect other people from viruses - e.g. when you receive a virus, even though it doesn't affect your computer, you may send it out to PC users.

Another thought, is it possible that you are dragging a file from Finder and inadverdantly drag it over the Entourage icon? It will open that way, thinking you want to email the file as an attachment.

I'm pretty sure I have Mail set as the default mail app....as far as the dragging, are you referring to it simply being dragged over the app or dragged and released on the app? I'm sure I've inadvertently dragged over before, but I've never released upon it, to my knowledge
