Ok, so my wife has an iPad 6th Generation and I have a first gen iPad Air 2.

Both devices have the same exact brightness settings, Nightshift and Auto Brightness settings and both are on the same iOS versions.

On my iPad, when in a darkened room, the screen brightness auto adjusts down and when in a brighter room, the screen brightness auto adjusts back up.

BUT, on my wife’s iPad, the screen brightness ONLY adjusts up and does not go back down again when she moves to a darker room. This results in a glaringly bright screen when moving to different lighting conditions.

Anybody have any idea why this is happening?

It can take some time for the ambient light sensor to react, unfortunately.
