Auto-unlock on Mac mini

Most of the unlocked discussions are with folks who have MacBooks. I've got issues with my Mac mini.

At one point, I had automatic unlock with my late 2014 Mac mini and Apple Watch. It took a unpair and re-pair to get it working. However, I just went from a 6 plus to 7 plus (clean install) and am stuck at macOS trying to unlock with the watch and eventually failing and asking for my password.

Don't know what to do. Suggestions?

I did two things at once, so I'm not sure which one it is.

My Apple ID on the watch was my .me name. The Apple ID on the mini was .icloud. I logged out of the my iCloud on the mini and re-logged in with .me. After that unlocking started after about an hour.

So, more than likely it was simply logging out and logging in. But who knows. Maybe they have an issue between .me and .icloud?

I may try to logout on the mini again and log back in with .icloud, but it's working....
