Okay, this is for those with 9.3 and the Starbucks app:

1. open the app, tap on Pay (I'm referring to the store's app, not the pass in Wallet/Passbook). The screen becomes very bright so that the bar code can be read.
2. Then close the app, and the screen goes back to regular brightness. This is all expected behavior so far.
3. Now lock the phone so the screen shuts off.
4. Now unlock the phone - on my iPhone 6 the screen is now at maximum brightness. I have to go into he settings and toggle the auto brightness off/on to get it back to normal brightness. Bizarre.

I tried this on my 6s with the wallet app and couldn't reproduce it.

don't have this on Starbucks app. I don't think it gets that bright at first time either.
