Autocorrect fails

So I have been having this issue for probably a little over a year now both on a iPhone 6 and now on an 8... when I type certain words, autocorrect will make wild, nonsense corrections. I took my phone to the Apple store in Brisbane, QLD and the lady there asked if I had tried resetting the keyboard (of course I had, this isn't my first electronic rodeo) and after that she basically said she had no idea what it could be.

I have started keeping a record of the ridiculous things my autocorrect has been doing.

can’t --> can.'you're
don’t --> don.'you're
haven’t --> haven.’today
haven’t --> haven.’you’re
isn’t --> ian.my
isn’t --> ian.’you’re
shouldn’t --> shoulda.'you
you’re --> you.'the

This is just from the last couple of days when I finally had enough (it has been progressively getting worse and more aggressive with the corrections).

Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on/is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I complain almost daily about how stupid the autocorrect has become. Why does it go back two words and change it? It oversteps far too much. They need a setting to stop corrections involving multiple words. Just now the stupid thing tried to change “involving to invoking”

[doublepost=1522699117][/doublepost]This is after I have begun typing the next word. Leave it alone. If there was I problem I’d fix it. This going back a couple of words to “fix” my sentences is pure BS.

Have you tried resetting the keyboard dictionary (under Settings > General > Reset)?

Are you also on one of the more current iOS updates, given that there have been various auto-correct related fixes in some iOS updates.

I’m on 11.3. And yes they do seem to listen the autocorrect has gotten better. I can’t tell you how many times I have to complain that it tries too hard to seem “smart” by looking for any reason to insert a proper noun from the contacts. That seems to be fixed.

I have reset the dictionary a few months ago. My problem is not with words but how it likes to mess with entire sentences.

I've never had any issues with it. Auto-correct learns how you type and what sort of words you use. Sure there are times when it gets it wrong, but for the most part it's great for me at least.

Not sure if this could be causing the issues you're having, but is the language and dictionary set to English?

Yes it definitely is. I don’t mind it fixing words. But when it tries to insert phrases and correct sentences is when it’s gone too far.

Also, yes. I keep my phone up to date.
