Hey guys,

My wife has an iPhone 7+ running on iOS 11.0.3 and she has an issue with autocorrect that, for some reason, started doing this autocorrect when she tries to write the Dutch word “op”. For some reason iOS wants to turn the word “op” into “O.P”...

Her keyboard is set to Dutch.
I checked the shortcut list, it’s not in there.
I reset the Keyboard dictionary(?) but nothing seems to help.

Weird thing is that it never did that before. Just since a couple of days.

I run an iPhone 6S on iOS 11.0.3, also with Dutch keyboard and I don’t have this issue at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Cause “op” is used pretty often in Dutch...

There are similar issues in English. In another thread some people have reported auto-correct turning “is” into “I.S.”

Both auto-correct and “Replace” are performing very poorly. They often fail to correct words that are very close to the correct spelling, sometimes off by as little as one letter! I also hate that it very frequently “corrects” “its” to “it’s” despite the former being correct and intended. Nor does it highlight misspellings like you get in text input in macOS system-wide.

For example, iOS just let me type “aquire” and couldn’t even suggest the correct spelling “acquire” when I selected it and chose “Replace...”.

Basically, iOS is becoming an amateurish joke.

Interesting how things can work differently for different people/devices. I haven't come across the "is" and "I.S." issue, "its" often enough stays as "its" for me, and "aquire" gives me a simple suggestion for "acquire" when I tap on it.

I haven’t encountered I.S either (lol) but a bunch of other people reported it and it’s very similar to the bug OP is reporting. Like OP, they said it never happened prior to iOS 11.

Take from that what you will.

It never even happened in iOS 11 until a few days ago.
Just out of the blue...
