If anyone can tell me what I am missing, I would be grateful. Scoured the internet and cannot find anyone else having this problem.

All devices updated to iOS 14 & iPadOS 14. In Bluetooth for AirPod2 & Power Beats Pro = Connect to this Device -> Automatically = on all Apple devices. Different types of sound platforms tried (YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, etc)

iPhone XS & iPhone SE (1st Gen.)
AirPods 2 do not Automatically Switch when pausing media on one device and starting media on the other. Have to manually switch in control center.

Seems to work reasonably well (not always) between iPhone and iPad. Not working with my Mac, but I guess I need Big Sur and I am still on Catalina.

Thanks for all the replies. Bumping this thread once. It looks like I am going to have to go in and ask Apple to fix.

Question: Only have had to make appointments for hardware at the Apple store. Is it the same process for software issues?

Clearly this is on Apple since I have 2 accounts with the same problem and the majority of multiple device owners have this feature working.

I tried to do the auto switching between my iPhone and iPad Pro. Didn’t seem to work until I manually selected the AirPods on the iPad. Now it works perfectly every time.

You need to have your two factor authentication security activated. That did the trick for me.

Forgot devices and paired again on both devices. This did not work. Appreciate the help.

Do your AirPods have the latest firmware? Auto-switching is working like a charm with my AirPods Pro.

Have never been able to get this to work. The promise of “AirPods connect automatically to the device that’s playing audio” just isn’t real for me.
