Automatically set time zone does not work

I have an issue where the time zone on my iPhone 8+ with latest OS does not change time zone automatically sometimes. I've searched online and have verified various settings. It seems this not uncommon. Does anyone have a solution or workaround? I drive interstate for a living and having accurate time for the time zone I'm currently in is imperative. I'm on Verizon if it matters. It works sometimes, just not always.

I've verified that:
general > date and time > time zone - is set to automatic
privacy > location services > system services > setting time zone - is enabled


It works sometimes, just not always. I almost missed a delivery yesterday.

i would also be turning on these System Services in Location as well:
1 Cell Network Search
2 Networking & Wireless

although i tend to always make sure most location services on my devices are turned off as much as possible, i have also found this very well written Location Services White Paper was a good guide to getting a better experience overall:

The only system service that did not have access to access to location was "improve maps". I figure it can't hurt to have one more system service looking at location and potentially flagging an update needed.

I didn't find the networking and wireless setting you mentioned.

While driving, I have my iPad running with Copilot Navigation, and it, to my knowledge, has not failed to register time zone. I'm not sure if that constant location gathering by the third party app has anything to do with time zone change reliability or not. Perhaps I should use it when planning. I'm just in the habit of using my iPhone for other tools during planning.

if you don't see the setting that is called "Networking & Wireless", is it possible you don't have installed the latest update to iOS (ie. iOS 13.3.1) ? (sorry, i don't have an iPad so i don't know if this setting is on iPadOS or not; but is on iOS for iPhones effective this latest update).
this setting is newly called this and was provided (according to some) to control on/off for devices that have the U1 chip.
but the point is that this setting has now combined several various location services that makes it a difficult decision to turn it off.

You're right. I'm not on 13.3.1. It seems like I just updated, but did not check. I'll do the update, check the setting and see if that helps. Thanks for your help.
