I've installed Apple's X11 from the Tiger install DVD. All works fine and my X11 apps run like a charm.

but i'd like to startup X11 when I login without appearing in the dock or giving my its menu bar. I use to manage this by placing this in prefs->accounts->login items, i checked the hide box and it ran fine. But after fooling around a bit i messed up, forcing me to reinstall the x11user.pkg. So i did, and marked the hide box again... but now it shows up in the dock en menu bar at login :(

I tried rebooting, checking and unchecking it a couple of times but nada. So any hints or tips what could be wrong? Or how to fix it?

I'm running 10.4.3 on a iBook 2005.

How about removing it completely from login items and readding it.

I just tried that and sadly no effect. Even rebooting in between didn't have any effect. The X11 icon is still jumping up and down in my dock.

Weird thing is though that i can make changes in my account setting with the 'lock' in its closed position.
