Hi there. I just registered on MacRumors. Hope to find a solution to a problem in security & privacy. Alfred needs to have some permissions to work fine. The automator option in security & privacy is greyed out and I can't get it to activate. I am the admin and I have the system password, so I can open the paddock. Who can help me on my way? Thanks in advance! I'm working on MacBook Air (M1 2020), Big Sur v.11.2.1.

Did you try opening Alfred? The application should open and then add itself to the automation option. I'd quit System Preferences, open Alfred, quit Alfred, then reopen System Preferences > Security & Privacy, then see if the application shows up in the Automation tab.

Thanks KoolAid-Drink! Yes, I did these things and even shut down the Mac and restarted. But that did not solve the problem. Now the question is whether it is a Mac or Alfred problem. What do you think? The Alfred version is 4.3.2 [1221].

If Alfred isn't showing up at all in the Automation control panel, I would try uninstalling then reinstalling Alfred. It's strange nothing is populating the Automation list if Alfred was supposed to request access Automation privileges on first launch.

You can also click the "Advanced" button and make sure that system-wide permissions are enabled.

----------
Edited to add: before reinstalling Alfred, unlock the Automation control panel first.

To inform you, I contacted Alfred and their answer was that there's no way to manually add Alfred to automation. If it's ever needed, macOS will pop up a notice. The purpose of my question was to get the snippets option in Alfred working. This was now achieved by clicking an option (Automatically expand snippets by keyword) within Alfred. So, problem solved. Thanks both for your cooperation.
