Automator help, batch rename, deleted pics?

Like a newb, I managed to erase nearly all my digital pics. In an effort to batch rename them within the same folder, I ticked the option "replace existing files", thinking this would avoid creating copies of my pics with new names. -Big mistake-

And poof, gone.

Any way to retrieve them?
