Hi! Geez, I hope this is the right category to be posting this in. It's not as if I'm exactly a pro at this, lol. I feel like what I want is simple, but Automator is being a jerk and won't give me what I want. *shakes fist*

I've googled like a manwoman and can't find a single thing that helps me. Basically, all I want is when I close a specified application, that a second specified application open. It seems simple, yet I can't figure this one out. They're two apps that I use in conjunction with one another, but never together as they're both large and need all apps closed in order to perform efficiently. So, when I close one, the other could automatically open, and that would make me oh-so-friggin happy.

Please let me know if this is possible, whether it be with Automator or otherwise.

Thanks oodles in advance. This is giving me quite a headache.

An Automator workflow doesn't have the ability to watch for system events, and regular AppleScripts or shell scripts don't either.

A Cocoa application can watch for events such as an application quitting, but looking at the OS you are running, you might take a look at Do Something When.

Awesome. Thanks! Yeh, I figured Automator couldn't do it, but I figured why not ask someone who *knows*, and trust me.. I know how lacking my current OS is. Womp womp. Lol. I'm trying out DSW right now. Hopefully this will do what I want. Thank you for your suggestion. :]
