I recently upgraded my IPhone to 11 and purchased the aux cable to use in my car to listen to music and audio books, but when I plug it in, the sound still comes out of my phone and not the car speakers. If I play around with it and unplug it and plug it back in multiple times, it will come out of the car speakers, but I haven't been able to figure out exactly what the trick is to get it to work the first time (I never had a problem with my previous IPhones which had the separate jack for the aux cable).

Did you buy the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm adapter or a 3rd party one?

I’ve never had a problem with the one that came with my iPhone X, but I have had issues with 3rd party ones.

On Amazon, Apple MFi Certified Lightening to 3.5mm. It's weird because if I connect and disconnect it several times, it eventually works, but I haven't figured out what I'm doing to make it finally work!
