Full disclosure: I'm the developer of AV Rules!
When I connect my projector, I want my mac to switch to 1080p.
When I connect my TV, I want it to run at 720p
When hdmi audio output is available, I want my mac to use that (and to use all the channels too!)
Previously, my Mac mini didn't do a great job of switching automatically, so I wrote AV Rules to take charge.
I use it for my media computer (mac mini connecting to a TV or projector).
I can definitely see it being useful for people who connect up projectors or other screens when working, and as with most of my apps - there are probably other use cases I haven't thought of!
I'd love to hear from you if you think this is useful, and if you have suggestions.
I posted the first release yesterday on my site:
http://HobbyistSoftware.com/AVRules
It's free right now as a beta app - I'd love to get your feedback!
thank you!
