Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone knows the availability of the new MacBook Pros in Apple Stores. I’m supposed to go buy a 1.83GHz on Sunday morning and was hoping one of you could tell me about how long after the 2.0s shipped that they had them in stores?

Just wondering—I’ve been looking forward to this since June (I’ll be a switcher) and I’m hoping I won’t have to delay this little excursion to my Apple Store. :)

Thanks,
John

Apple Store Valley Faire (Santa Clara, CA)

Put me 45th on the waiting list for the 1.83 yesterday afternoon. They had a shiny 2.0 in the box that a customer declined. Not sure if there's a waiting list for the 2.0

Why didn't you buy that one?

I called my Apple Store (Aspen Grove) today about it and the guy said that they didn't know when they'd get them in stores, but they were on demo now. He said there wasn't a waiting list or anything going I could get on and didn't know if it'd be faster to buy online or to wait for them in stores...

Basically he didn't help at all.

Short answer? Because I'm an idiot. Longer answer? I was in a really bad mood because the so-called Geniuses have been screwing me over.

I just played around with a Macbook Pro at a reseller store in Philly. They got their display model last week before the Apple Stores in the area had them. Strange, no?
None in stock for sale-all models spoken for in the first shipment.
The thing is crazy smooth and fast

Ah… I wonder what to make of this. My store is still saying by the end of the week…

Here’s hoping!

Apple Yorkdale Retail Store (Canada): Macbook Pro 2.0Ghz units in stock, picked up my unit this afternoon, could not possibly be happier...love it to pieces....its oh so sweet...

apple store Emeryville CA

Just called them today. Not in Stock and there is a wait list.
Sales person notes about same wait time as buying from the webstore.
Not helpful!

Ugg...

I've had one on order since the 15th of January. Somehow I've been dumped into the "shipping by March 8th" crowd.

I was hoping I could just buy one at the store.

This is just the poorest, most disorganized product launch that I've ever followed.

Were you hibernating through the XBOX 360, PS2, Dreamcast, Mac Mini, Nintendo 64, and... every other electronic device with any type of demand?

Hibernating?

No, I was living my life, chief. Note the use of the term "followed" in my prior post. I didn't order any of those products, so I didn't follow their release. And those launch problems have no bearing on my problems with the MBP release anyway.

Does apple pay you to police those of us who dare criticize them?

I'm sorry if I'm doing this the wrong way, but can someone help me buy a Macbook Pro?

Which of the options at Apple store "customize your Mac" would make best computer?

I wish there was an Apple Store where I live...:(

Don't get too upset... my Apple Store is telling me I'd be just as fast to order online than I would waiting for them to show up in stores.

What are your needs? Chossing the pricest option for each will make the best but it may be overkill for what you will be using it for.

To be honest this is my first Mac, so I want to but together the fastest Macbook pro available with the option to upgrade in the future, for example if you where to choice, would you get more RAM or a bigger HD from the start.

MBP in Applestores

I received mine yesterday via TNT/Apple store online. Because I think the stores have ordered their products before me (I did it the day after Job's keynote), I bet they are already there on this Feb 25th.

Best MBP

I would definitely go for 2GB ram , and the 120 Gb.

I just received my MBP yesterday, with this configuration. I transfered all my data, setting and software using the migration assistant. The MBP eats 9 GIG hard drive space than my PBG4 , with exactely the same programs and datas.
Looks this guy is guilty of gloutony.

And I have had the choice (I did not) I would have gone for the 2.16ghz. Not because its faster, but because the 2Ghz is suspected from producing a quite ennoying intermittent whistle or whining. Mine does, unless I push the screen light background at ts maximum or minimum.

There may be also reports on whining of faster processors, but I did not find any yet.

Besides this, that might be corrected by a new firmware in some days, this Laptop rocks.

Well, Apple Store says they don't have them, and said to check back on Tuesday. Here's hoping... I really can't wait for my 1.83 :) God willing, I'll pick it up Saturday. :)

You lucky dog, you. ;) The Apple Store Christiana Mall also has them for display, but according to the sales reps, none for sale.

One week... just one more week...

But if you have an Apple Store you can go play with them all day long. :D
Like I did today!
