I like the product and would buy one now, but I would really like to have it for my Spring vacation in the first week of March. I hope they can push it forward a bit. After my vacation, I will have much less need for it until I travel again, so I probably won't buy it until much later, or just get a Kindle for now. I know a few other people that are on the same boat.

Apple products never release early. Probably will be delayed.

I'm hoping to have the 32GB Wifi version by the first of May but if this is going to be anything like the new iMac release last October, GOOD LUCK:(

Too bad Steve Jobs didn't take your vacation plans into mind when deciding when to release the ipad.

They probably didn't release it immediately because of iPhone OS 4.0, which will probably add Multitasking and a lot more things.

They didn't release it immediately because it must get FCC approval.

Not true, Apple didn't apply for FCC Approval because that's how leaks are made.

They did the same thing with the iPhone.

I'm pretty sure they announced it now so developers can get to work on the SDK and have a whole slew of apps out for the release.

Right...that's what I am saying. They had to announce it early so that they could then get FCC approval without worrying about leaks. Therefore, the reason we can't even pre-order one yet is because it is currently waiting for FCC approval.

I'm taking a trip, leaving on Memorial Day. I am really hoping that the 3G version is out by then so I can leave my laptop home.

Then I take it you don't remember the iPod touch being released 2 or 3 weeks earlier. I remember the "terror" that ensued to the quality of the screens (to which I still say was a hardware, not software issue).

But they gave us a specific timeframe, unlike the "it will come out towards the end of such month". 60 days is a long time and I don't think they will be out in exactly that amount of days either.
