I placed an order around 2 weeks ago through a reseller, they said it should ship within 2 more weeks.

If you were to order today apple Guarantees an April Delivery and your wait would be no longer than 36 days. But apple has become promise breakers and missed almost everyone's February delivery window a few weeks back.

Yup, I've been moved to April and I'm still waiting. :(

I was given a Mar 6th delivery and it was delivered Feb 24th. I ordered mine Dec 20, 2013.

8 weeks is the safe bet.

Hopefully less, but the track record for BTO's is 8,9,10 wks.

Mine took 8 wks and 2 days.. Jan 6 to March 5th. Was supposed to ship in February.

I ordered my nMP yesterday. Only 4core but with 16g of ram.

I was curious, how does your workflow work. I also have a 13 in rMBP haswell, do you feel it's overkill to have both?

IMO, it's never 'overkill' to have a spare computer. If the main one has an issue, you have the spare. (And for many issues, you may be able to solve the issue by searching from the spare, or downloading something on the spare to fix the main.)

However, for myself I'd never consider deciding between a portable and a desktop - I always have both.

i pretty much use the macbook while im at school and hardly use it at home when i have 2 computers. but it dosent hurt to have a desktop and a laptop. i didnt do any final cut or premier work on the macbook when i had the old mac pro, I dont have the new mac pro yet, i should be getting it soon "April Delivery Date". I use to own a 2010 12 core mac pro but recently sold it and i bought the new mac pro and a pegasus2 to house my data. the laptop is the workhorse for now with 2 apple 27 cinema displays.
