I have a couple AVI movies that I would like to get converted to play on the Apple Tv. I have been using mp4 Converter but it tends to like to desync the audio from the video, starts off fine and then next thing you know there talking but no mouths are moving. Makes it a bit hard to enjoy and this is with the setting cranked up. Does anyone have any suggestions for changing an AVI to somthing else that will play on the Apple tv? And im not up for hacking the device right now.

I forgot to say Im on a Mac so I need a Mac compat program to use. :)

Visual Hub is only 12 quid. Buy it - it's great.

If you are really cheap get isquint for free - same thing only less hi quality options / presets and when you press the help option it quotes the Beatles at you.

Both apps referenced are Mac apps, after a fashion. ffmpegX should give you fine results. Of course, if you're using QuickTime, you ought to be able to export to AppleTV with by using the Export option.

I've always done my avi conversions through iSquint with zero problems.

It's made for iPod video conversions, but it will make SD videos as well. Haven't tried it on an HD avi yet though.

QTamateur is a free program that enables the QuickTime export functionality found in QT Pro, iMovie, etc. It'll let you do batch processing too. VisualHub will likely provide quicker encoding, though.
