Hi i got the new apple tv to play all my films on but just found out loads of my films are AVI format...is there anyway to get there is to itunes so can stream to Apple TV or do i need to convert them and if so what is the best way?

Best way is to change the container - does depend what encoding method has been used however. Try searching 'play avi on appletv 2' using 'google.com'. My recommendation is mkvtools, but handbrake may work out better for you.

The cheapest way (free) is to use Handbrake to convert your AVIs to M4V/MP4s. If you have a lot of movies, this is going to take a while.
