iPod AVI to MPEG4

Anyone know of any good programs to convert files such as avi's to mp4's so i can play them on an iPod video?

thanks for the kind advice friend, I'm using that at the moment as asvissd from this sight but was wondering if anyone found something different. I'm also having a difficult time with widescreen movies. Any idea on how to watch them full screen?
