Hi folks,

After a few months, I've noticed the AW6 I got for my dad needs to be charged twice a day CONSISTENTLY. Otherwise it shuts down completely. I own an AW6 too, and I charge mine once a day. Why is this happening? His battery health reads 93%, mine is at 99%. What does this mean? We both got it in October. So I'm thinking his watch is somehow defective.

Please advise.

If it were me, I’d remove all third party apps and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, you can start re-adding them and see if the problem reappears.

When this happened to me, it was a corrupt installation of the audible app that was causing my battery drain.

Have you fully rebooted his watch and had the issue continue?

If so, have you removed all non standard apps, unpaired / re-paired the watch and had the issue continue?

It's far more likely a stuck/rogue app than a hardware matter.

Well. Since my dad isn't very tech savvy, I got him the watch and he hasn't installed ANY third party APPs. The watch is basically my way of getting a hold of/ keeping an eye on him and to be notified immediately in case of any falls or emergencies. But we will try to reboot and see what happens.

Does he have an iPhone too or just the watch? If he’s only got a watch, it will either be connecting to wifi or cell service, both of which use a lot more battery life than connecting via Bluetooth to an iPhone.

Oh, this could be it. When he's home, he's on WiFi constantly. When he's out, then obviously using cell service. No, he doesn't connect to an iPhone. His watch connects to my iPhone via family share, he just has a different mobile number so I can reach him.

I guess this is why....

Depending on how he uses the watch, you may be able to make some changes that should prolong the battery life. 1. Turn off AOD if he doesn't use it. 2. Turn down the screen brightness (I have mine on 50% because I think that full brightness is too bright for me), and 3 make sure that the setting for how long the screen stays on when it is activated is set to the shorter time (I think the two options are 15 seconds and 70 seconds). 4. If he is using the vibration alert, and doesn't need it, turning on the audible alert & turning off the buzzer should also help battery life. 5. If he regularly goes to places that have free wifi, making sure that he's connecting to those hotspots should also help with battery life.

Good luck!

Dunno whats going on but mine died at 8pm yesterday when it normally lasts til gone 11pm

Yeah, my 44mm Series 6 died on me at 4pm today. I didn’t even exercise today. I don’t know what’s going on.
My dad has the 44mm too and his watch is not working well. I have the 40mm and it's doing fine.

Mine S6 typically gets over 24 hours on a charge but today ran out early. I noticed the compass was in background. Perhaps that had something to do with using extra juice. I realize apps in background aren't supposed to use power but I have seen where the compass is always on? I'd like to just eliminate it, but it doesn’t go away unless removed from phone.

Yeah, I just find that I have to charge the AW6 more and more frequently. It's very annoying. What is your S6 battery capacity at? How long have you had it?

My series 6 is only 3-4 months old and battery says 100%. I charge it in evening while I'm sitting reading and used to stay at 100% till I went to bed at 11. It would be 30-40% next evening. Now with no app changes or use age changes by me, it will be down to about 20% or go into red (15-20%) in early evening so I have to charge it earlier. I turned off compass and anything I don't need, but honestly I shouldn't have to, because there have been no changes except software updates. Frustrating.
