We do know the AppleWatch does have Bluetooth and NFC connectivity.
We also know, that neighter Bluetooth nor NFC has a fast transferrate.

It's enough to stream audio, exchange some informations, but not enough to transfer a bigger file.

Apple must have some mechanism to update the Apple Watch.
Tim also said the watch has some internal storage for music streaming.
During the conference, he also said there are no exposed contacts.

So, transfering files will be veeeery slow?

Okay, if it does have WiFi that would be good.

It just seems, apple contradicts themself sometimes.
In the keynote they said the following:

Using its gyroscope and
accelerometer, and the GPS
and Wi-Fi from your iPhone,
the watch provides a
comprehensive picture
of your daily activity.

It has a custom sensor
that can measure intensity
by tracking your heart rate
and it uses the GPS and Wi-Fi
in your iPhone to track
how far you've moved.
Those two were the only instances where they mentioned "Wi-Fi" during the Apple Watch Part of the keynote.

Their Press Release states the following:

Apple Watch also features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 4.0 to pair seamlessly with your iPhone.

So it looks like it does indeed have WiFi, that's good.
I was confused at first because I only watched the Keynote

John Gruber also mentions in one of his articles that he talked to Ive and he mentioned that the watch has WiFi for at home use.

That's probably why it was important to incorporate the handoff and continuity features in this years iOS 8, so the watch can leverage them from your phone at home.

I wonder if the :apple:Watch will have the option to use home wifi.

From an article I read it will use wifi exclusively to communicate with other Apple devices, so it is possible it requires pairing with one of these to access the home wifi.

How will you configure your preferred networks, passwords on the watch? It makes sense to leave this to a larger device.

We also know it will have wifi.

I hope this is correct and it seems adding WiFi with BT would be trivial. However Apple seems to indicate that it doesn't have WiFi.

Well it probably does use the wifi in the phone for normal operations. BT-LE is much more power efficient, so may as well let the device with the big battery carry the load. But it does still sound like the watch will have Wifi, most likely for transferring data and syncing.
