I just found this awesome video of an iOS 18 concept with really really interesting ideas! And many of them, I would love to see them, like the subject removal tool in Photos, the use of Dynamic Island to show notifications, or the inclusion of smaller widgets that take only two icons size.

Here’s the video:

What feature do you like the most?

PS: mods, you can move this thread once the iOS 18 subforum has been created.

using dynamic island as a clipboard was awesome.

I still want to see how they can adapt notifications into Dynamic Island somehow.

I also would like more freedom for app icons on the home screen, but this is a step in the right direction.

I'd like to be able to reorganize the order of items in settings - seems as if the ones I use most are down near the bottom of each category

I dig it. I just want the ability to have empty spaces on my home screen without needing to install an app that makes a blank widget. But for that video, I'd be down with those features, especially the AirPods controls!

I just want them to fix bugs and work on performance improvements, if I need features I don't need, I can just buy Android.

It's not bad. The multitasking is neat idea and I like that the icons can be moved down to the bottom where your thumb is.

Let us remove the camera and flashlight icon from the lock screen!

This looks like a legit Apple video. Very nice concepts and most of these features would be very cool. I especially like being able to change the noise control on my AirPods without using the control center.

The biggest problem with the lock screen isn’t the camera button though, it’s the slide gesture which opens the camera app. I must invoke that at least a dozen times a day, usually happens at the worst time possible too. I’ll be carrying something in the dark using the flashlight and the light goes off because the camera opened up. It can be dangerous as well, I’ve had times where I’m in a totally dark room and the light goes off and almost tripped over something. How Apple hasn’t fixed this in all these years is pretty crazy, my Android phone has never done this once in over 3 years, when it’s locked, it’s locked. At least they could let us turn off gestures like these that are so obtrusive and stupid, we don’t need 900 ways to take a picture from a locked phone.

While I use the gesture of the *slide to open camera* A LOT, I mean, I use it almost daily when I want to quickly grab a picture without unlocking the iPhone, I understand where are you coming from.

I have also suffered what you describe. Whenever you grab the locked phone without proper care, you end up with the camera active, thus, the torch turns off (yes, I also use the flashlight a lot).

So, yeah, I think removing the gesture would be a good move, and the people who uses the camera with a quick gesture a lot, like me, I guess we could get used to the bottom button.

Other people who doesn’t need to take quick pics and they don’t mind taking time to unlock the iPhone, they should also be able to customize the button like the video portrays.

I don’t know, this extra customization should have be done on iOS 16 or 17, where they redesigned/refined the new Lock Screen. But I guess it’s never too late. Right Siri?

Lately, for whatever reason, the flashlight has been turning on whenever I pull my phone out of my pocket. But there are also times when I dont even realize it's on until my wife says "Your pants are glowing".

I do use the slide to open camera gesture quite a bit myself but it needs to be refined. The fact that there are two (possibly 3 if you have an 15 pro) ways to access the camera from the lock screen is fine but it feels like it's tripping over itself. It's almost too many options to access one thing. Adding in the action button only made it worse.
