I am so disappointed with B&H!! I preordered the Apple Watch series 4 on Friday at 3:14am EST, but I haven’t received a SINGLE update on my order since! After checking the never-changing status of my order online a gazillion times like a crazy person, I finally decided to call them today to find out what’s going on. Well guess what? They told me my watch won’t be shipping until the 2nd week of October!! WTH?!? I understand shipping dates can slip and all that, but I placed my order in the first 15 minutes of the preorder, which should have at least guaranteed me a late September shipment. Even worse is, THEY CHARGED ME THE FULL PRICE OF THE WATCH UPFRONT, without ANY updates on the status of my order! That is just unacceptable! I immediately cancelled my Apple Watch order, and the rep wasn’t happy about that, but TOO BAD! Keep your customers informed!! I at least had the wherewithal to preorder a 2nd watch from Apple as a backup, and they didn’t charge me upfront for it! So, if you ordered an Apple Watch series 4 from B&H, I highly suggest you call to check your ship dates, or at least have a backup order somewhere else!! Pffff!

FWIW, I ordered AW4 from B&H on preorder day and I haven't been charged yet. Just checked my CC to verify.

Depending on the model you ordered Mid October sounds right. Stainless steel models slipped fast.

I preordered from B&H yesterday with a card and they also charged it. It shows that they (i.e., 44mm Space Black) are backordered. Oh well, I am patient.

Really? Everyone who has ordered from B&H say they were charged. Have you checked the status of your order?

But they didn’t TELL us. They don’t update the online orders from processing. This has been most people’s experience. There is no info other than “processing,” 9/21 shipment, and first come first serve. So if you placed an order in the first 10 minutes of preordering, a late September shipping date seems more reasonable,. In any event, it’s more about BH “selling” the idea of a launch day delivery, without ever monitoring/updating or correcting that information for its customers.

You’re also ordering a week after the preorders started. My main rant is I ordered in the first few minutes after 3am with a 9/21 ship date, but the dates have apparently been slipping with no updates to the customers. BH knows people will cancel if they think they have to wait several weeks for the watch, when they can have more luck getting it at a store on launch day. They have a lot of competition here in NYC, too.

I'm with you on this, thats just bad business from B&H. In this day and age, you have to keep customers informed. No excuse.

I just checked my order and my online statement, they actually have not charged it yet. It's okay.

On B&H it only says:

Order Status: Backordered

LOL! Wow. Let me guess. Ordered from them to save the tax? And now you're complaining because they don't have the customer service level of apple and won't be shipping your item on release day but didn't tell you till now? Wow. Cheap and whiney not your typical apple fan combo.

I'm looking at the order status now, it says this:
upload_2018-9-20_18-52-22.png

I don't see where it would say from B&H's side whether or not the card has been charged. I just double-checked my credit card transactions, and I double-checked that I didn't use a different card. I definitely have not been charged yet, and it's been several days so it would have showed up by now.

I have an email that says this:

"Paid With" (Visa), but I think it's just showing the payment method, not that they were literally paid already.

I used apple pay from iOS safari and was charged the full amount. Doesn't bother me, but can understand why it would others.

I ordered from B&H but I got the Nike 40mm so wasn't expecting to get mine until October anyway...not too worried about it. I haven't been charged yet either. I did notice they say if you pay with PayPal you get charged immediately, maybe the same for Apple pay?

Let me tell you about your “guesses” .... First off, I LIVE IN NYC, so I don’t get any tax savings. In fact, I pay the most tax out of everyone. Second, I live near their Superstore, so I often go there to spend ridiculous amounts of money on my photography gear, as I am a photographer. Thirdly, I shouldn’t have to call BH to find out what is going on with my order, when they charged my card the full $800 and marketed the Apple Watch preorders as having the same delivery date as Apple and other stores. When I preorder photog gear, I am not left waiting and wondering, so this WAS a bit of a marketing scheme, which is why I am “whining.” Needless to say, your “let me guess” intuition needs a little bit of work..... ‍♀️

Really? You’re one of the few fortunate ones, then! Now I want to see if anyone who ordered from BH gets their watch tomorrow. That should be a good laugh with my morning coffee!!

I was charged literally 5 seconds after I punched in my cc info. I get notifications on my phone from my bank, so I always know when I’m being charged in real time. I was actually really surprised, because out of all the stores I ordered from (I made a few backup orders to try and secure my stuff arriving on time), and BH was the ONLY one who charged me straight away. I’m thinking it might have been a “hold,” like a pending charge? But my bank registered it as an actual cc charge, so I was responsible for the $800 either way. Anyway, I cancelled my order with them bc “backordered” means you won’t know when the date of shipping/arrival will be until the day it’s ready to go.

Maybe that’s it, thenz I used Apple Pay at my checkout. Hmm.. At least you knew your AW would be delayed, BH made it seem like early preorders would ship/arrive on 9/21. They def’n knew that wouldn’t happen bc of the Jewish Holidays this week, and now there’s another one next week, so no one is gonna get their stuff on time. I was hoping they would have been more prepared to handle the orders through the holidays.

I would think that those who paid in full during the preorder would be in an even BETTER position to receive their orders by 9/21, because we’ve already paid so no chance of the cc being declined or problems with billing and shipping addresses, etc. No, now I’m def’n upset with BH, there’s no excuse for that.

They charged my CC on 9/14 when I ordered my watch and then a few days later the pending charge dropped off. I canceled my order and went and picked up one from the local Apple Store today.

Not directly related, but I ordered the new MBP from BH (to save on tax) and it just said backordered for about 2 weeks before I got a shipped email, no updates or estimates before it shipped. I didn't mind as I was saving some $$.

If you indeed live in NYC and visit their superstore often, you would know that they are closed for every Jewish holiday, including closing early for Shabbat each Friday night and all day Saturday. With the release day on a Friday, this didn't leave much time for them to process and ship out their preorders, assuming they even received their stock from Apple on time (many stores, including Best Buy, did not). They couldn't ship out on Sunday the 23rd because UPS/USPS don't accept packages on Sunday. They have then been closed for the Succot holiday and remain closed until October 3rd. This could further delay preorders because their warehouse staff was likely off as well, meaning they wouldn't accept shipments from Apple. Naturally, communication and shipping will be at a bare minimum during this time.

I don't know if this is true. From the message below, it sounds like they didn't get them at all:

Please be advised that the latest information provided by the manufacturer is that your backorder is estimated to arrive at our warehouse on or about October 5th.

You can cancel the order with B&H and buy it from Apple, but then you will have to wait until the beginning of November to get it.
Not a great solution for someone that pre-ordered based on the shipping date advertised on B&H, i.e. September 21st.

Ordered at 12:01a PDT on preorder day, called last week on the one day they were open. They said they hadn't received anything from Apple, but were expecting inventory when they reopened today (10/3). Still shows backordered on my order, but no problem, no rush.
