and then doesn't display anything? Anyone know what the scoop is on this?

It's a found machine, so for all I know, it could be toast. It has no sticks of ram in it (but doesn't the PM have enough built in to start it up?). Yes, before you ask, it has a hard drive in it. Haven't tried booting from a disk yet or anything.

It also turns off immediately on a hard shut down (don't have to hold the power key down to turn it off).

Thanks!

Without RAM, it won't do much.

All the openfirmware machines are ROM-in-RAM, so they need RAM and a HD with the ROM file to get past the initial bong.

And no RAM sticks, means ZERO ram on the motherboard -- none soldered to the MB.

Thanks. Guess I'll have to hunt down a stick or two.

It takes PC100 or PC133 mac compatible ram. If you just want a stick to boot, it'll probably only cost you like $15 for a 64 or 128mb stick.
