Ok, I know a blue and white won't support a drive larger than 120GB (without a pci card), but is that the total drive size or the partition size? Could I partition a 160GB drive on a different computer and have the B/W recognize two 80GB partitions?

no.

however their is software to allow the use of bigger than 128GB drives, it's a soft patch so is fairly safe, i think it's micromat that makes it.

Yeah, no matter how you partition it, the board will only recognize 128g of it. The software driver is apparently quite reliable, but be sure to read their instructions and cautions, as you can lose data if you ever have a kernel panic and have to reinstall the system (they suggest a system of partitioning that works with their product). Also, here is your machine's bible. :)
