Back of the line for me.

Ugh. I can't make up my mind and keep placing new orders and going to the back of the nMP line. So all of y'all have moved up a slot. Originally ordered at 3:30am ET on release night (January deliverY), but canceled and changed a few times since. Anyone else doing this? Guess I'll be waiting till sometime in February. Good thing is I'll likely be seeing more real reviews and benchmarks before mine gets unchangeable...

Currently on the 6-core, 12MB RAM (will upgrade to 32 or 64 (with 16GB chips only either way)), 1TB ssd and D300s (don't need the graphic processing, and could always upgrade later).

i ask because i am considering modifying my order. i ordered a hex w/ 16 ram (or 12, can't recall; i intend to upgrade it after-market), d300s and 512 SSD.

contemplating maxing out the video cards. i was also toying with the 8-core as i tend to constantly have at least one VM open (to which i allocate 2 cores).

i'm running an 8-core MP3,1 now, so i started to think that 6-cores would be a downgrade in some sense.

I'm in no rush to make a decision and I'm eagerly awaiting to see some real world performance. Was considering the 6core with d700s, but who knows? In a month's time I might be swayed towards an 8core or a windows workstation.

I've ordered the 6-core, 16MB RAM, 512 SSD and D500s. Am considering modifying my order to get the D300s, but am also concerned that I will NOT be able to upgrade the GPUs later (in fact, I think it is unlikely). So, I may just stick with my order as is. Not sure.

The only way to change your order is cancel and redo it. I called several times on this.

I'd like to redo my order. I got the stock hex core with the D700's. Instead I should go with the base model, upgrade the CPU to Hex, and the video to the D900's, and the flash to 512. It would cost only $200 more for the extra $256G flash, and since I'm changing out my RAM anyhow thats a savings. However I don't want to lose my place in line as I ordered really early.

I think the D500s, all the FUD aside, are still going to prove to be much better than the D300s. We should start to see real tests soon.

Yea same here I ordered at 3am est and got a JANUARY I thought bout changing from my setup
The only thing I did was change hex stock to the 1TB flash I want more ram but I'm not gonna lose my spot for ram tho. I'll upgrade after I get it.

Ya I called the morning after release to change my order (2:30am shortly after they opened ordering). They said the only way to change it is to cancel and reorder. This is dumb.

Good news is now that I'm at the back of the line I don't worry so much about canceling and recording as my mind changes. Shouldn't push delivery back much anymore.

The D900’s? Do you just mean to upgrade the base model (4-core) to the hex, the D700s and flash to 512GB? The SSD you should be able to upgrade from OWC in the future and it might come out a little cheaper than what you’d get from Apple, plus you’d have the original 256 should there ever be something you could do with it. The RAM issue isn’t costing you much either. The way Apple is pricing it, that extra 4GB figures to be $100, but its nested with so many other upgrades in the 6-core that I don’t think you should worry about it.

And remember to keep all your stock parts should you ever have to take this thing into an Apple store or send it off for a AppleCare claim. I’m betting for a most things that go wrong with the nMP, they will just take yours and give you a new one, which doesn’t work out so well if you sold your original RAM/SSD.
