Hi all.

Finally I have a phone with the Back-Tap feature and would like to do the following:

3x Tap- Display on 100% brightness (this part works)
2x Tap- Display returns to predetermined or ambient lighting brightness.

I had achieved the 3x set up of 100% brightness through Accessibility>Touch>Back Tap. To note that during this set up, Set Brightness appeared as a shortcut, enabling choosing the pre-determined level of brightness via a slider.

This Set Brightness shortcut still appears when setting up the x2 Tap but off course is locked to 100% still. I cannot find in iOS16 how to remove that shortcut and return to this custom slider screen that appeared during the set up of the shortcut.

I'm sure there's an easy solution but it evades me right now.

Does anyone know what ENABLES this function? Is it the haptic engine or the vibration mechanism, just used as a receptor and producing the vibration?

I had this working fine on my iPhone 8 Plus to enable the flashlight, double back tap to turn on, then another double to turn off.. after having APPLE replace my battery in store, this function no longer works. I’m wondering if they damaged something in the battery replacement process.

I would have thought it would be a sensor rather than the Taptic Engine or vibration which are feedback mechanisms. Probably it’s the accelerometer which picks up the back taps, or a specific type of sensor which detects small vibrations
