So, in the span of a week, the Mac has seen two releases of some really quality games from their original developers.

Red Barrels has announced the survival horror game "Outlast" is available on Steam for Windows, OS X and Linux. It's currently priced at $19.99.

Secondly, Flying Wild Hog has announced that OS X and Linux versions of the reimagined "Shadow Warrior" are out! It's right at $39.99 on Steam.

Might get Outlast. I already the entire gameplay on YouTube though... Looked like a scary fun game.

I'm sure the timing was beneficial for the bundle, but the developers I'm sure weren't sitting on these finished games waiting for the next humble bundle to ship. :)

There are a lot of games that have made their Mac debuts with the bundle. Humble actually works with developers on Mac/Linux versions.

Does Humble have inside info that the public doesn't?

I don't know what would be the business advantage for developers to go with Humble in such a way, as opposed to the MAS or Steam or Origin, who have much larger customer bases.

Not sure what you mean...The business advantage is that they get their games ported. And it's not like Humble is exclusive in any way.

Just purchased bundle 14, one question.

Do you get the DRM free game updates via the Humble website ?

It's kept updated, yes. Not sure if your downloads page will mark updates as I just use the Steam keys.

I guess I'm hesitant and unsure about buying from Humble because I don't know anything about them. Who are they? Is Humble the name of the company? Who are the owners?

They've been around for five years now. I'm honestly surprised you haven't heard of them--their bundles are extremely popular. It was started by David Rosen, the head of Wolfire games, responsible for Lugaru, a Martial arts rabbit game.

I actually prefer to buy from their store nowadays over Steam, because it's the best of both worlds--convenience of Steam (you get Steam keys with most games) with a DRM-free backup.

I have been purchasing Humble Bundles for a long time and they are a reliable, reputable company that is pretty well known. I too am surprised you've not heard of them. People tend to announce to each other whenever they learn a new Humble Bundle is out. I am on their email list so I just get notified of that and other specials they run in their Humble store which as mentioned primarily sells Steam keys at attractive prices, mostly when you catch them on sales there. The simple way to keep apprised of these deals is just sign on for their mailing list. They do honor your privacy. I've not gotten spam since I did that. I am very selective about who gets my email for such purposes so I'd notice.

You can trust to have a good experience if you decide you want to shop there and take advantage of a bundle deal. In the current bundle, I paid 10 bucks for both Shadow Warrior and Outlast along with other included games. That's quite a good deal obviously and the big draw of these bundles.

Another nice thing is you get to choose how the money you spend is distributed among the following: 2 or more charities usually (I prefer Child's Play myself when possible), the Humble Bundle people to pay for their bandwidth, promotional costs and some profit hopefully for their efforts and last but not least the games themselves. Even there, you can decide which games get your money and how much. This bundle had some games I couldn't care less about so I gave them zero and allocated more of my 10 bucks to the games I did care about.

Humble Bundle has raised a lot of money for very worthy well known charities with their bundles. I like that a lot about them. I would encourage you to give them a try for this one and save a bunch on these two games plus get some others in the deal as well. Then you can see for yourself what you've been missing!

Once you have purchased a bundle, you have your own purchased items page where you can at any time download DRM free copies of the games along with soundtracks in some cases too as well as redeem your Steam keys. You are allowed to both redeem your keys and download a DRM free copy for yourself as well.
