Both Engadget and Gizmodo are reporting that Apple will host October 20th event that will focus on Macs. What do you think apple will announce Next Wednesday?

I will start...

1. New iLife 2011. Could be 2010, but probably 2011
2. New iWork 2011.
3. Macbook Air refresh and I am hoping that will drop the price and improve some specs.
4. Macbook pro could see updates, but I am not confident about that. We could see these notebooks move from Core 2 Duo to i3 processors.
5. Macbook update, but only minor like Speed and Ram
6. One more thing! Mac OS 10.7 and announce touch screen iMAC!

IT'S TIME!!!!!

I've been waiting for around fifty years for this :D

Bring on:

11-13" screen
256GB SSD
4GB+ RAM
Faster CPU + GPU
- will it be Intel Core-i7/Nvidia/ATI? AMD/ATI? Atom? ARM? (hope not) or... EARLY INTRO OF SANDY BRIDGE :D
IPS Screen
USB 3.0
Glass Trackpad
Stunning Design
Another Apple X-Factor?

I just hope it's not an app-store-centred device. I need grade A productivity.

I haven't been this interested and downright excited about an Apple event in a long time. Anyone know if it's going to be Jobs? I hope it is

MEOW!!!!

I'm going to laugh so hard at these forums when they don't update the Air

It won't be ARM no one is going to re-write all their applications for the Macbook Air, and emulation would be painful.

am I the only one that thinks :apple: might do a crappy refresh with the air?

11.6" screen w/ IGP and a stripped down version of OSX or even put an advanced version of iOS on there?

all the drama with Intel and Nvidia just doesn't point the refresh to a better direction..

I hope I'm wrong and that :apple: would surprise me. I'm ready to sell my Vaio Z as soon as it arrives if the new Air is worthy.

Assuming the lion in the logo is the next iteration of OS X, they're not going to intro it and a laptop that dumps OS X for iOS.

Even though I want an air really bad, I will laugh when people get disappointed at the refresh simply because most people don't follow technology and understand computers as well as they think they do and from what I see on the forums, people pretty much want the impossible with regards to what is out there right now.

I hate to be pessimistic, but I am not convinced that there's much hope for a massively redone Air next week. I honestly don't see them making the Air into a folding iPad by running iOS.

And judging by what I've gleaned of the Intel situation, I'm not entirely optimistic here for a massive update either.

I'm very anxious to see what they have come up with, but I'm not necessarily going to be checking the balance on my credit card in anticipation of some miraculous update to the MBA.

I hope your right Wang foolio!!!!!

I don't want a damn air running stupid iOS!

That's why I'm selling my iPad, I don't use apps I want a portable computer, If they were to put iOS on it then I'll have to go the Sony z route

It would be interesting to have an Apple notebook that in addition to running a full OSX -- could also run or emulate iOS and therefore be capable of running all the iPhone and iPad apps. Of course, the current screen would need to upgraded to a touch version.

I think its a very long shot at this point, but I wonder if Lion could be some type of hybrid OS.

Too true! I think we'll see what's up. At this point there's really just Arrandale, unless they've gotten Intel to make a custom chip again (not likely, IMHO), so a LV i3/i5/i7 chip? And IGP ('cause there probably isn't room for dedicated graphics...).

The only spec that's a dealbreaker for me is the 4GB of RAM, but that seems like a no-brainer. I don't care 13" or 11", or Core i3/i5/i7 (I'm assuming they'll ditch Core2 - as it's being EOL'd by Intel in two months).

The IGP will suck - but the Arrandale IGP apparently isn't much worse than the 9400M, so that won't be the end of the world...

Either way, can't wait till Wednesday!! :D

If Sony can do it I don't think it's impossible; I'm not hoping for anything the Vaio Z isn't doing already ... hell I'm not even asking for as much as it is doing necessarily :). Oh well only 6 days until we find out ... actually 7 I guess, damn timezones.
