I have Back to my Mac set up on my Macbook Pro and office Mac Mini so I can get my hands on remote files. The problem is it is incredible slow. It can take 5 minutes or more just to see the contents of a folder. Screen sharing on the other hand is quite quick which suggests there is nothing wrong with my set up. Is this just a general Back to my Mac problem or do I have a problem? Thanks.

What is the upload speed of the connection you are using Back to my Mac on?
If it is DSL it could only be under ~1mbps which would cause a long delay to send you the file list.

The screen sharing portion only updates what parts of the screen actually change so it could seem much faster than it really is.

Both connections are DSL however the speeds I am seeing are closer to dailup. Interestingly I found that if I use screensharing from my Macbook to the Mini and then send the files from the Mini to the Macbook it runs a lot faster than trying to pull the images directly!
