I can't get it to work. I have it turned on on my macbook air, and on my iMac at home. Have file and screen sharing on. The imac shows up in my list of devices in the Finder window on my Macbook Air, but when I click on it, it just says 'connection failed'. I read up on it a bit, but haven't found any info on what could be wrong/what I need to do? thanks for any help!!!

Are you using an AirPort Extreme or express by chance?

Airport Extreme (not the newest one, the one just previous). There are several Expresses on the network though. But the main router is the Extreme...

There is a setting somewhere in airport utility where you put in your iCloud information, doing this has always been the answer for BTMM problems for me

Well, not in airport utility, actually in the individual router settings, but you use airport utility to get to those settings

Thanks! I looked around in Airport Utility and the settings for the Extreme, but didn't find anything relating to iCloud...

I will pull it up on mine tonight when I'm at the house and post back what exactly I'm talking about, I may have the wording wrong

Ok, open airport utility, click on your router, and then click edit in the bottom right of the box that pops up.

Something will pop up, stay on the first "Base Station" tab. At the bottom there is a Back to My Mac box. Click the + sign below the box and fill in your Apple ID and password. Click update.
