i have an iPhone 3G on firmware 2.1 thats jailbroken. As of now my phone has no computer to sync to because the computer that it was using the itunes deleted all of my playlists (idk y). I'm in the process of just recreating every playlist then in the future just restore my phone and start from scratch.

While i was moving the playlists around i right clicked on my phone in itunes and it comes up with
  • eject
  • sync
  • transfer purchases
  • back up
  • restore from backup...
  • reset warnings

i clicked back up and itunes is now backing up my phone

my question is:

What is itunes backing up?
Will it backup all of my contacts, notes, etc.?
Will it backup the playlists on my phone back into itunes?
If i click restore in order to upgrade to 3.0 will it give me an option to restore from this backup?

any other iformation is GREATLY appreciated

thanks

It's pretty much backing up everything except iPod media, i.e. all settings, apps and app info, contacts, other phone data, notes, custom keyboard words, etc.

No, that sounds like a job for Senuti (Google it).

If i click restore in order to upgrade to 3.0 will it give me an option to restore from this backup?
Yes, it should.
