So, my battery seems to be no good anymore. Working with 76% it can automatically shutdown and really be at 0%...

Condition says service recommended but cycle count is only 80.

I know its a few years old but is it expected to have such bad battery health with low cycle count?

Cost of a battery placement doesn't look good value for money if I go down the Apple path and as its Intel it probably makes more sense to upgrade to a new laptop.

Any thoughts?

You could try re-calibrating the battery.

Also recommend installing coconutBattery. It will give some really good technical details about your battery and its health indicators.

2017 MBP? Has the battery been serviced in the past? If not, then it's time to swap it out at either an Authorized retailer or Apple.

No, not serviced in the past, but the cost is about £500 from Apple I believe which is half way to a MacBook Air. As its Intel I am not sure there is value in spending that much now.

I tried the calibration with no joy - just been using it plugged in since. Not sure if Coconut will tell me anything more than battery needs replacement - just seems low cycle count to need a replacement...
