I don't know why this keeps happening, but i'm choosing a background picture, setting it, and then when i reboot my macbook pro, it'll revert back to an older picture that I originally set as my background picture. What is going on and how can i fix this issue?

I have the new macbook pro w/retina display.

try copying the pic file to your documents folder and then go to doc folder and right click to "Set Desktop Picture" see if that stops the issue - it seems like the file may be the issue (something changing) but if you do this you will be able to narrow it down

If it keeps happening, you might try posting in the Mountain Lion 10.8 forum.

One other thing to check is that you don't have the Change Picture checkbox ticked on the Desktop and Screensaver page.
