I have about 5TBs worth of video spread across 3 different hard drives that I would like backed up to a NAS. I like how Time Machine would be able to do automated backups without me having to really do much maintenance, but I don't like how it would put all my data inside that sparse bundle that could potentially be corrupted or a pain to retrieve files from. I looked into Carbon Copy Cloner and this looks promising but it's not as automated as Time Machine.

What are your recommendations for mass data backup?

CCC has very good scheduling possibilities, in the past I've used it to do timed interval, daily or weekly backups, all without any intervention from me once programmed.
These backups once programmed will run automatically and silently in the background.

i don't rely on any app do to do backup.... I prefer copying over myself..

5TB is allot..... The biggest i've ever done on my NAS is 2TB and even over EIthernet (Cat 6), that still took a while. If the solution is set it going, and forget it, then maybe an app could be ok.. but what is the problem with a Finder copy ? No need to select it all at once... do it in batches.

Macbook Pro is always on Wi-Fi, but i would not copy that large over due to slower speed. I'd always attach cable first

The reason why I want an app to do it is because while I'm working on projects or transfer new files to the drive I'd want them to be instantly backed up.
